Orange Yellow Caged Glass Wrought Iron Art Deco Schneider/La Verre Style Vase
Regular price
$528.00
Presented is a lovely vintage art glass and wrought iron vase, in the style of French Art Deco pieces by La Verre Francais/Charles Schneider. This piece is unsigned, so we aren't certain whether it is of the same time period or a later reproduction, and it could date anywhere from the 1930s to the 1990s. Whatever the case, it is a very well executed and very impressive piece. The glass is a vibrant yellow-orange, with a darker orange interior and dark green/blue mottling to the exterior, hand blown into a wrought iron armature, forming one unified piece that does not disassemble. The base of the iron portion is done in a design of four spirals, with vine tendrils and leaves around the sides of the glass. The glass is beautifully made and just translucent enough to give a wonderful glow effect when any light is seen through it.
This piece is in excellent condition. The glass has no chips, no cracks, no breaks, and no repairs. The metal has no breaks, no repairs, and no losses. The center of the bottom interior of the glass has a drilled hole, perhaps this was mounted as a lamp at one point, but if you would like to use it as a vase with water inside the hole could easily be plugged with a little epoxy or the like.
The vase stands about 12 inches tall and measures about 7 3/4 inches in diameter at the top, or about 7 inches in diameter at the base. -jm
