Presented is a wonderful set of 6 William IV English sterling silver teaspoons or coffee spoons. These spoons are dated 1835 and are made in a classic Fiddle pattern, with the fiddlehead shaped terminal and distinctive shoulders above the bowl. None of the spoons currently have monograms, though one does have a removal to the front of the handle, which was well done.
This set of spoons is in great overall condition. There are no splits, no dents, no breaks, no monograms, and no repairs.
Each piece is hallmarked with the lion passant for sterling silver, the leopard's head for the city of London, the date letter u for 1835, the duty stamp of King William IV's head, and a mark of LS (possibly Lewis Samuel) overstruck, with an original maker's mark obscured beneath. On one spoon the LS mark is mostly worn, but the rest of the marks are intact; this is the same spoon that has a monogram removal.
Each spoon is about 5 5/8 inches long. This total weight for the set is 123.1 grams or 4.3 regular ounces. -jm
