Presented is a neat antique silver mote spoon, likely American, dating to the late 1700s or early 1800s. The spoon is made in a classical form, with pierced openwork in the bowl and a long handle coming to a point at the tip. The back of the spoon has a rattail design, and the heel has an inscription of D:S 13.
This piece is not stamped or hallmarked, but we have tested it with nitric acid and guarantee it to be at least 900 (coin) purity silver.
This piece is in great condition. There is some minor surface wear, commensurate with age and use. There are no splits, no dents, no breaks, no monogram removals, and no repairs.
The spoon weighs 9.4 grams. The length is about 5 5/8 inches.
