Presented is a fine English silver and glass condiment set made in 1768 by Robert Peaston. The set includes four Anglo-Irish cut glass bottles of various sizes, and a shaker with a hexagonal base. The five glass pieces are nicely done with elegant paneled bodies. The glass bottles all have sterling silver caps, three with beautiful matching swirled finials and two with a pineapple style finials. The carrier has elegant gadrooning and four shell-form feet. The handle is threaded at the base and unscrews, which can certainly help with cleaning and storage. The front has a large medallion with pretty embellishes and flourishes around a central cartouche. The cartouche is decorated with a fine stippled background and an abstract floral cross-section.

The condiment set is hallmarked on the underside with the lion passant for sterling silver, the leopard's head crowned for London, the date letter n for 1768 and the maker’s mark RP for Robert Peaston. The shaft/handle is also hallmarked.

The condition is excellent. The decorations are still crisp and beautiful. Some of the glass bottles have some clouding inside, but a 24-48 hour vinegar soak might clear that up. The shaker once had a circular base, but at some point was cut to a hexagonal shape. A few of the bottles have signs of the original pontil mark on their base. There are no dents, no splits, no chips, no cracks, no breaks, no monogram removals and no other repairs.

The condiment set measures about 8 5/8 inches in diameter and 10 1/2 inches tall. The weight of the sterling parts is 911 grams or 31.9 ounces.
