Presented is a great quality old Indian wooden spice box. The form of the piece dates to the 1800s or even 1700s, but we are not certain of the age of this piece specifically. Our best guess is that it dates to the 20th century, around the 1920s-1940s. It's a very nice piece of hand carved work in a rich dark wood. The box is made in the form of a stylized leaf, with a lid that pivots to reveal four interior compartments. The exterior is nicely carved with a round snowflake type design, as well as an interesting figure that looks like it has a trunk, possibly Ganesh? The interior has five compartments for holding spices though of course you can use it however you like.

The box is in great condition. There are no breaks and no repairs. The lid opens and shuts smoothly.
The box measures about 7 by 3 3/4 by 3 inches, LxWxH. -jm
