Presented is a nice set of three antique Victorian English brass candlesticks, a matching pair with a shorter but very similar in design single. These candlesticks were originally push-up style. The candlesticks have cut corner square bases and a faceted design to the knops at the upper portion of the shaft. Very handsome and usable set.
These three candlesticks are in good overall condition. One of the taller candlesticks is a little loose at the base, and has a long bolt for the push up mechanism. This candlestick also rocks a bit. The other tall candlestick has lead solder in the bottom, so it is very solid, but no push up mechanism. The short candlestick still has the push up mechanism in the underside, and the shaft is firm and tight to the base. Some wax residue to all three.
All three candlesticks have an English registry mark on the side of the base, number 223580, indicating a date of 1893.
The pair of candlesticks stands about 8 3/4 inches tall and the bases measure about 3 inches square. The single candlestick is about 7 7/8 inches tall and the base measures about 2 7/8 inches square. -jm
