Neat c1880 Victorian 10k Gold Carved Hardstone Cameo of William Shakespeare
Regular price
$360.00
Presented is a lovely antique 10 karat gold carved hardstone cameo stickpin. This piece dates to circa 1870-1890 and is likely of American make. The head of the stickpin is set with an oval cameo carving done in white on black, depicting William Shakespeare. The carving is very detailed and well done, down to the man's moustache and curly hair.
This piece is in excellent condition. The cameo is well set and in great shape, with nice crisp detail. There are no chips to the cameo carving, even in the more delicate spots like the nose where you'd often see a chip or nick.
The pin is not stamped or hallmarked, but we have tested it with nitric acid and guarantee it to be 10 karat gold.
The pin measures about 2 3/4 inches long. The head of the pin is about 5/8 of an inch long by half an inch wide.
The pin weighs 2.5 grams without the stopper bead, or 2.9 grams with the stopper.
