Mid 1800s Victorian Superb 18k Gold Seed Pearl Miniature Portrait Pin / Brooch
Presented is a lovely 18 karat gold and pearl miniature portrait pin or brooch. This piece dates to around the 1830s-1870s and is likely of European make. The pin is round with real, natural seed pearls set all around the edge. The pearls are half drilled and glue mounted very securely. The portrait is hand painted, depicting a woman in a very fancy headdress, very detailed and well painted, against a red background. The pin has an old C style clasp.
The pin is stamped and guaranteed 18k, on the shaft. We have tested the pin with nitric acid and guarantee it to be 18 karat gold.
The pin is in great condition. The pearls are all securely set and in good shape. The portrait under the glass is in great shape, and the glass has no chips, no cracks, and no breaks. The clasp functions well and closes securely, with a good strong spring mechanism.
The pin is about 1 3/8 inches in diameter.
The pin weighs 7.3 grams.
