Presented is a fantastic Victorian 10 karat rose gold fob on a chain. This piece dates to around the mid 1800s and is probably of American make. The fob is set with a clear stone backed by foil, probably a glass/paste stone. The side of the fob has a wheat sheaf design. The fob is on a good sturdy cylindrical link chain, with a loop at the top. The loop where the fob attaches and the loop at the top are done in spring-ring form, like a keychain ring, so things can be added or taken off, etc.
The fob is in good overall condition. As the photos point out, the fob is missing the wheat sheaf decoration on one side. One of the links of the chain has been resoldered. Otherwise there are no breaks and no repairs.
This piece is not stamped or hallmarked, but we have tested it with nitric acid and guarantee it to be 10 karat gold.
The total length for the fob and chain is about 8 3/4 inches. The face of the fob itself measures about 1 inch by 3/4 of an inch.
The total weight, including the stone of the fob, is 40.7 grams. The chain and the loop at the top weigh about 16.5 grams, all of which is gold.
