Presented is a beautiful pair of black stone lamps with gilt bronze mounts, likely from the mid-1800s. This pair is likely French, but could be English, and are onyx or slate urns that have been converted into lamps. They stand on a square base and display fancy tall handles with lion head masks and classical palmette and acanthus leaf decoration around the shoulders. This pair comes with the fabulous, well-made lampshades shown in the photos, which is how the lamps came to us. Let us know if you do not want the the lampshades and we will not ship them. The lamp cords are attached on the exterior of the lamps and held securely with fine metal wire. Both lamps are working.
This pair is in great overall condition, especially considering age. On one lamp, the front decoration has some epoxy that we've added to secure it. This can only be seen in the side and is not visible from the front.
