Mexican Sterling Turquoise Amethyst Necklace
Regular price

Presented is a wonderful quality Mexican sterling silver, turquoise, amethyst and coral necklace. The necklace closely resembles the work of Matilde Poulat, better known as Matl. I do not believe it is her work, but the quality is superb and I honestly feel it is as good as her work, possibly even better. I have seen and owned many Matl pieces, and this looks exactly like her work. This Mexico City silversmith began making jewelry in 1934 and continued until her death in 1960. She is known for creating intricate pieces of beautifully hand chased silver mounted with small turquoise and coral stones. This necklace has a nice design with a large silver pendant bezel set with turquoise, amethyst, and coral with additional coral and turquoise stones dangling from the bottom. The pendant is suspended from a necklace of sterling silver beads set with pairs of turquoise stones. The necklace closes with a very secure plunger clasp. This piece is very well made and has heavy weight. It was probably made in the 1960s through the 1980s.
The necklace is hallmarked on the reverse and on the clasp with TD-102, Mexico, 925.
The condition is excellent. There are no chips, no cracks, no splits, no breaks, and no repairs.
The necklace is 17 1/4 inches long.
