Presented is a lovely Wedgwood jasperware pitcher dating to around the 1920s-1930s. This pitcher is done in the classic dark blue color, a very rich blue against which the white jasper figures and foliate decoration really pop. The pitcher is a classical round shouldered type of form, with a band of detailed floral garland decoration around the top and bellflowers down the handle. Around the side are various Greco-Roman figures, with putti, trees and flowers around them. The pitcher has a capacity of about 3 cups, or 24 fluid ounces/710 milliliters.
This piece is in great overall condition. There is a small chip on the side of the spout. There are no other chips, no cracks, no breaks, and no repairs.
This piece is signed on the underside with Wedgwood as well as England.
The pitcher stands about 5 inches (top of the handle) and measures about 6 inches from the handle to the spout, or about 4 1/2 inches in diameter at the widest point of the body. -jm
