Lovely Set 3 c1890 Sterling Silver Hexagonal Hand Engraved Candlesticks

Presented is an elegant set of three antique sterling silver candlesticks, made by Duhme & Co and dating to around the 1880s-1890s. These candlesticks are made in a handsome hexagonal paneled design and decorated with fine quality hand engraving throughout. The engraving is richly detailed and textured, in a classical floral scrollwork motif. The bobeches/wax drips are removable for ease of cleaning. Each candlestick has two cartouches, neither of which has ever been monogrammed. These candlesticks are well made from thick, heavy gauge sterling silver, with interior weighting for stability found mostly just in the bases.

These candlesticks are in excellent overall condition. The pitch weighting of the interior has loosened with time, and so if you shake the candlesticks you will hear a rattle. This doesn't effect their use, unless your guests regularly shake your candlesticks. There are no dents, no splits, no monograms, no monogram removals, and no repairs.

All three candlesticks are stamped and guaranteed sterling silver, with the maker's mark for Duhme & Co, both on the side of the base and on the underside.

Each candlestick stands about 8 3/4 inches tall and measures about 4 1/2 inches across at the base.

The total weight for the pair is 1124 grams, or 39.6 regular ounces. -jm
