Lovely Pair English Silverplate Hand Chased Cut Glass Hurricane Candlesticks

Presented is an excellent pair of English silverplate and cut glass hurricane candlestick holders. This pair was made by Nayler Bros. & Son in the 20th century. The candlesticks themselves are silverplate on copper, made in a handsome, classical form with finely hand chased decoration. The shades are clear glass with bands of oval cut decoration around the upper portion and a decorative scalloped rim. The candlesticks can be used with or without the glass shades. An elegant addition to any table setting or room's décor.
These candlesticks are in excellent condition. The silver plating is in great shape with no noticeable wearthrough. The glass has no chips, no cracks, no breaks, and no repairs, though one shade does have a couple of black specks in the glass near the rim, original to the making of the piece and very hard to notice. The silver has no splits, no dents, no monograms, no monogram removals, and no repairs.
Each candlestick is signed N.B. & S. for Nayler Bros & Son(s), as well as Hand Chased Silver on Copper and Made in England.
Each candlestick stands about 20 3/4 inches tall including the shade, or about 10 5/8 inches for just the candlestick. The shades measure about 6 inches in diameter at the rim, while the candlesticks measure about 5 7/8 inches in diameter at the bases. -jm
