Presented is a beautiful Japanese Meiji period cloisonne charger. This piece dates to around the late 1800s or early 1900s. The background of the dish is a sky blue, and colorful cloisonne work depicts a butterfly and various leaves and flowers. The rim of the charger features more delicate cloisonne work in rich red, orange, shades of green and light blue, all standing out wonderfully against a black background. The back of the charger has a wire spiral pattern against sky blue. The work is all very well done, and this is an attractive and eye-catching piece, which would look great in a cabinet or hung on a wall.
This piece is in great condition. The wire and enamel are all intact. There are no breaks and no repairs.
