Presented is a charming pair of 14k gold, silver, and carved bovine/ox bone earrings. These earrings date to the late 1800s/early 1900s and were made in Japan. The earrings consist of carvings mounted in silver, hanging from 14k gold studs. The carvings show flowers and birds, probably chrysanthemums and cranes. The carvings are beautifully and skillfully done, very intricate and finely detailed. The earrings have screw style backs, suitable for pierced as well as unpierced ears.
The earring backs are stamped and guaranteed 14k. The caps on top of the carvings are tested and guaranteed silver.
The earrings are in great overall condition. One of the carvings has a hole in the bottom, which is noticeable when the earrings are being worn. The details of the carved designs are nice and crisp.
The earrings weigh 23.0 grams.
Each earring is about 2 3/8 inches long.
