Presented is a lovely Chinese export porcelain Famille Rose Medallion covered dish, dating between 1850-1870s. The bowl is in a subtle quatrefoil form. Around the lid and the interior of the bowl, there are two intricate scenes of traditionally garbed Chinese figures alternating with two rich and colorful scenes of birds and flowers. The lid also displays two smaller round scenes of birds and flowers. The lip of the dish has a border of green scroll-work alternating with flowers against a gilt background; this pattern also in between all the scenes. The exterior of the piece displays floral clusters on each of the quatrefoil sides.
This piece is in excellent overall condition. It doesn't appear to have ever been used. The porcelain has an interesting orange peel finish, giving the piece a neat texture. The gilding is clean and bright, with only the tinest amount of minor insignificant wear. The painted scenes are crisp. There are no other chips, no cracks, no breaks, and no repairs.
