Lovely c1900 Copeland Spode Black Italian Centerpiece Fruit 9.5" Bowl
Regular price
$115.00
Presented is a wonderful antique Copeland Spode centerpiece or fruit bowl, dating to circa 1900. The bowl is made in the black variation of the Italian pattern, designed by Josiah Spode in 1816. As the name suggests, the pattern features lively and detailed Italian-inspired decoration, a pastiche of bucolic riverside scenery with sheep and herdsmen with classical stonework and architecture in the background. The decoration is done both on the interior of the bowl and the exterior, and the bowl has a gold gilt rim. Really a very desirable and collectible piece, in one of Spode's most beloved patterns.
This bowl is in excellent condition. The porcelain rings beautifully when tapped. There are no chips, no cracks, no breaks, and no repairs.
The underside is stamped with the Copeland Spode mark as well as the name of the pattern, Italian.
This bowl measures about 9 1/2 inches in diameter and stands about 4 inches tall at the rim. -jm
