Presented is a nice lot of 9 American coin silver spoons. Seven of the spoons are done in the classic Fiddle pattern, while one has a rounded handle with wavy edges on the sides, and the last spoon is done in coffin end form. The spoons all bear an old period monogram as listed below.

Five of the spoons are marked on the reverse with the maker’s mark of RC for the Baltimore silversmith, Robert Campbell, including the pillars, C, and eagle. Campbell was active as a silversmith from 1819 to 1854. They are monogrammed with AW on the front of the handle. The exact hallmark on these spoons is shown on page 179 from the book Eighteenth and Nineteenth Century Maryland Silver in the Collection of the Baltimore Museum Of Art. Two spoons are marked on the reverse with J. J. Low & Co for the Boston maker, John J. Low & Company. This firm was active around 1828. These spoons are monogrammed with SS on the front of the handle. The rounded spoon is marked on the reverse with M. M. Swan for the maker and monogrammed with an F on the back of the handle.

The coffin end spoon is not marked. It is monogrammed with MS on the front of the handle.
The spoons are in good overall condition. Two of the Robert Campbell spoons have significant dents on the bowls, and one has a small split. The other spoons have only minor surface wear and a few little dings here and there. There are no other splits, no breaks, and no repairs.

The spoons are between 5 and 6 1/8 inches long.

The combined weight is 118.3 grams or 4.1 ounces. All are guaranteed to be 900 purity silver, coin silver.
