Late 1800s English Silverplate Pair Fish Servers Fork and Knife Leaf Engravings
Regular price
$231.00
Presented is a gorgeous English silverplate fish serving set in its original fitted storage case. This pair of serving utensils is likely by Walker & Hall and dates to the late 1800s. The servers have carved handles done in a style reminiscent of a classical Corinthian column, with vertical fluting and endcaps decorated with stylized acanthus leaves. The body of the fork and the blade of the fish knife are hand engraved with nicely detailed foliate decoration.
The engraved side of the blade is marked with a maker's mark “W & HS”, likely for Walker & Hall.
The box is lined in purple velvet and satin throughout the interior. The exterior has a large worn stretch across the front. Certain parts of the box's markings can still be made out: “Championship Prize.... R.W.G 1889”.
This pair is in excellent overall condition, especially considering age. There are no cracks on the handles. The engravings are crisp. There are no monograms, no monogram removals, no breaks, and no repairs.
Length of Fork: 10 1/4 inches Length of Knife: 13 1/8 inches Measurements of Box: 15 1/2 inches long, 4 3/4 inches deep, and 1 1/2 inches tall -kc
