Presented is a superb quality set of 12 Danish silver dinner forks. These forks were made by Peter Hertz in the Old Danish pattern. This pattern is a variation on the classical Fiddle & Thread pattern. The forks are well made and quite heavy, with a great feeling of weight in the hand. Eight of the forks have a marriage type monogram of FM above CM. The remaining four have a marriage type monogram of PM above LM.
This set is in great condition. There are no splits, no breaks, no monogram removals, and no repairs. Each fork is stamped with the Danish "three tower" mark, the maker's mark for Peter Hertz, and an assay mark for assay master Simon Groth. The tower mark has the last two digits of the date year at the bottom. Four of the forks are dated 1874. Four of the forks are dated 1876. The remaining four are dated 1911.
Each fork is about 7 7/8 inches long.
The total weight for the set is 752 grams or 26.5 regular ounces. -jm
