late 1800s/early 1900s Classic 14k Gold Diamond Pearl Bar Pin or Brooch
Presented is a lovely 14 karat gold, diamond and pearl bar pin or brooch.
This piece dates to the late 1800s or early 1900s and is likely of European
make. The pin is set with 18 old mine cut diamonds, all set in white gold or
platinum so they really shine. The diamonds range in size from 1-2 points at the
smallest to about 7 points at the largest, for a total diamond weight of about
60-75 points. The diamonds are vibrant, dazzling stones of SI clarity and I
color. The center of the pin is set with a lovely pearl, of about 7 millimeters
in diameter, with gorgeously smooth nacre and appealing lustre. The pin has an
old capped style safety clasp.
The pin is not stamped on the shaft with a mark that looks like 585 for 14k,
but it is indistinct. We have tested it with nitric acid and guarantee it to be
14 karat gold
The pin is in great condition. The diamonds are securely set. The clasp
functions well and closes securely. There are no breaks and no repairs.
The pin is about 1 7/8 inches long.
The pin weighs 8.4 grams.
