Presented is a fabulous Chinese export porcelain rose medallion teapot, dating to the late 1800s, circa 1860-1900. The teapot is beautifully hand painted with polychrome enamel and gold gilt decoration, featuring panels of roses and other flowers alternating with panels of traditional Chinese mandarin figures, with a central medallion of bird, flower, and butterfly decoration. All the decoration is quite colorful and well done in the famille rose palette. The handle is done in a classical crossed strap design, and the spout is a graceful curved form.

This piece is in excellent overall condition. There are no chips, no cracks, no breaks, and no repairs.

The teapot has a capacity of about 2.5 cups, or 20 fluid ounces/590 milliliters.

The teapot stands about 5 inches tall and measures about 6 3/4 inches from handle to spout, or about 4 inches in diameter. -jm
