Late 1800s Chinese Bronze Three Cranes Sculpture Brush Hanger Stand on Wood

Presented is a fine quality antique Chinese bronze group of three cranes mounted on a piece of driftwood, dating to the late 1800s. The bronze cranes are fairly detailed, with feather texturing and the 'red cap' depicted with engraved patterning, and they have a very elegant look to them, two shown with their heads and necks upright and one looping downward. There is a bronze hook with a leaf design that attaches to either the center crane or the one holding something in its mouth, so this was possibly an ornate brush hanger, though it can easily be displayed without the hook as well. The wood is very craggy and full of character, with a lacquer of some kind to give it some shine.

This piece is in great overall condition. The cranes are all intact, but as for the hooks, we only have the one pictured, while one of the other cranes has a slot where a hook would presumably go, though the third crane does not.
