Presented is a wonderful pair of Anglo-Irish cut glass pieces dating to the first half of the 1800s, possibly even the late 1700s. The pieces are an oval basket form double handle bowl, with matching underplate. Both pieces are beautifully cut with a classical diamond point type of pattern, with a star cut into the underside and almost a shell sort of design to the handles of the bowl. The glass is heavy weight and high quality.

These pieces are in good overall condition, particularly considering the age and material. The teeth of the bowl have some fretting, and the point of the central tooth of one handle is chipped quite noticeably, as is the side of the handle, which is pointed out in the ninth photograph. The underplate has more fretting/minor chips to the teeth around the rim. The undersides of both pieces have significant shelf wear.

We aren't certain that these pieces were made as an original set, but they match nicely and were acquired as a single lot.

The dish itself measures about 10 1/2 x 6 1/2 x 4 1/4 inches, LxWxH. The underplate measures about 10 1/4 x 7 x 1 1/4 inches, LxWxH. -jm
