Presented is a lovely large covered tureen or serving bowl by Meissen. The serving piece dates to circa 1900 - 1930s and is done in the Scattered Flowers or Streublumen pattern. The tureen is white with beautifully hand painted floral decoration, in a veritable rainbow of vibrant colors featuring a variety of flowers scattered against the white background. There is a putti forming the top handle of the lid. All the decoration is hand painted in painstaking detail, with a great degree of skill. This large oval tureen has a bright gilt edge.
The condition is excellent. There are no chips, no cracks, no breaks, and no repairs. This is a first quality piece. There are no cancel marks and no imperfections.
The tureen is marked on the underside with the Meissen crossed swords mark in underglaze blue.
The tureen holds an impressive 150 ounces. The height is 12 inches to the top of the child's head, the finial.
