Presented is a very large and heavy Art Nouveau sterling silver basket made by Reed & Barton during the late 1800s or early 1900s. This turn of the century piece is in done in an elegant, sinuous openwork form. The fluted or ruffle form basket has flared, dipped sides and is raised on a decorative, shell and fleur-de-lis border base. The handle is also cut with openwork designs. One side of the basket has a monogram of the initials EMW.
The underside is marked with the Reed & Barton hallmark and sterling. This piece is in excellent condition. There are no breaks, no cracks, no splits, no dents, no monogram removals and no repairs.
The basket measures 13 1/4 inches wide and 16 inches tall.
