Large 1919 Gorham Sterling Silver Glass Powder Vanity Dresser Jar Box 5 3/4"
Regular price
$253.00
Presented is an antique, sterling silver and cut glass dresser or vanity jar for powder, talc, makeup or whatever you like made by Gorham in 1919. This piece is done in a classic form and is rather large. The sterling silver lid has an old, Art Deco style monogram of the letters C and T, but that could be covered over by a silver plaque. The glass body of the box is cut with pretty, floral decorations.
The lid is marked for Gorham, sterling silver purity and has the Gorham trumpet date symbol for the year 1919. I feel the glass maker is most likely Sinclaire or Hawkes.
This piece is in great condition for its age. The lid has a few slight dents. The underside of the glass base has some wear, but this is to be expected on a used piece of this age, and the wear is only visible when you are looking at the piece upside down. There are no chips or cracks to the glass, and the lid fits well.
Diameter: 5 3/4 inches.
Height: 3 1/8 inches tall. The weight of the sterling silver lid is 91 grams.
The total weight is 25.7 ounces or 729 grams.
