Presented is a lovely Italian 14K gold and carved shell cameo pin. The shell is very nicely carved with a beautiful young woman in fancy attire. The cameo is bezel set in a 14K gold frame with twisted ribbon decoration around the edge. The frame has a pin back as well as a hinged bale for optional pendant use.
The gold frame is marked on the reverse with Italian hallmarks including 585 for 14K gold and a maker’s mark of APA. We have tested the pin with nitric acid and guarantee it to be 14K gold.
The condition is excellent. There is one small spot near her eye, which could probably be cleaned up. This is much more noticeable in the photo than when you hold it in your hand. I cannot even see this more than 8 inches away. There are no chips, no cracks, no splits, no breaks, and no repairs.
The pin measures 1 1/8 inches by 1 1/2 inches.
The weight is 6.2 grams.
