Presented is a wonderful Italian 18K gold carved cameo pin or pendant. This hard
stone cameo is likely sardonyx, and it is very nicely carved to depict the
profile of a woman. She wears a headband of flowers positioned at the side of
her head, and another cluster of flowers at her left shoulder. The cameo is
securely bezel set in a heavy 18K gold mounting. This cameo is not from a
seashell, but rather a stone from the ground. The pin or brooch has a hinged
bale so that it can also be worn as a pendant. The pin is likely from Italy and
is fairly modern.
The ring is marked K18 on the inside of the band. We have tested it with
nitric acid and guarantee it to be 18K gold.
The condition is excellent. The carving is in great shape. The clasp works
well. There are no breaks, no cracks, no splits, no dents, no chips and no
repairs.
The pin measures 1 3/4 inches by 1 3/8 inches. When the bale is up, the
pendant is 1 7/8 inches by 1 3/8 inches.
The weight is 19.6 grams.
