Presented is an interesting antique silver and stone pill box, snuff box, or trinket box. This piece is of continental European origin, possibly Scandinavian, and dates to circa 1900. The lid and rim of the box is 935 silver (a higher standard than sterling 925) while the rest of the box is a faintly translucent yellow-white polished stone. The inside of the lid has a gold wash.
This box is in great overall condition. There are no splits, no dents, no monograms, no monogram removals, and no repairs. Some surface wear to the stone, but no chips or cracks. The lid closes nicely.
This piece is stamped on the lid with at least five marks, or possibly six or more if the one on the far right is two or more overlaid. The mark of 935 is for the purity of the silver, tested and guaranteed.
The box measures about 1 3/8 inches in diameter. This piece weighs 24.8 grams. -jm
