Interesting 1904 Dutch Silver Figural Chatelain Spoon Hope Anchor Dove Handle
Regular price
$164.00
Presented is an excellent quality antique Dutch silver spoon, dated 1904. The handle of the spoon is done in a classic twist design, topped by a figural terminal in the form of a representation of Hope, as a woman holding an anchor in one hand and a dove in the other. The anchor has a loop/bail at the top, so perhaps this was a chatelaine spoon.
This piece is stamped on the side of the bowl with the Dutch lion passant second standard hallmark guaranteeing silver purity of at least 833, with the Dutch small tax/export mark of a key, used starting in 1853. The other side of the bowl has the date letter of U for 1904, and the Minerva head duty mark on the stem, beneath the pedestal.
This piece is in excellent condition. There are no splits, no dents, no breaks, no monograms, no monogram removals, and no repairs.
The spoon measures about 7 inches long.
This piece weighs 65.8 grams or 2.3 regular ounces. -jm
