Presented is a large, heavy, English sterling silver caster made by Elkington & Co of Birmingham in 1941. This piece is in a classic form and has gadrooned bands of design along the rims. The lid is pierced with decoration and has a nice finial. The lid fits very tight to the body.
The lid and body are marked with the lion passant for sterling silver, a date letter for 1941 and a maker's mark for Elkington & Co. The body is also marked with the anchor for Birmingham.
This piece is in excellent condition. There are no dents, no breaks, no splits, no monograms, no monogram removals and no repairs.
The caster measures 7 3/4 inches tall.
