Presented is a wonderful French Samson porcelain lidded urn or vase, dating to around the first quarter of the 1900s. The urn is made in a classic style, emulating Chinese export porcelain pieces with stylized floral decoration in varying shades of pink, purple, red, and green, with raised white enamel detailing for a nice pop of texture. The foot, rim, lid and finial have fine gold gilt detailing, and the urn stands on a very nicely carved wooden base. This is a very impressive piece in a large size, guaranteed to make an impression however it is displayed.

This urn is in great overall condition. There is an old, professionally done repair/minor restoration to the rim, which is hard to notice except for a slight difference in coloration and a bit of wear to the gilding. The lid has an old, professionally done restoration as well, equally hard to notice and likely corresponding to the one on the rim. Both could be made even less noticeable by touching up the gilding, which is very easy to do. There are no other repairs, no chips, and no cracks to the urn or its lid. The wood base is also in great shape, though it could stand to be oiled.

The urn stands about 17 1/2 inches to the top of the finial and has a maximum diameter of about 10 inches. The base measures about 7 inches in diameter. The height of the urn, on the wooden stand, is about 19 1/4 inches. -jm
