Presented is a wonderful old Chinese export porcelain serving platter, dating to around the 1790s. The platter is decorated in a beautiful Imari palette, white with rust red, cobalt blue, and gilt decoration, as well as pink flowers and green leaves. Very colorful and well done, emulating a French or English style more so than the usual Chinese decoration. The glaze has a fine orange peel finish on both the upper and lower surface, except for the unglazed portion of the base. The platter is quite a large size, with a useable surface area measuring about 10 x7 inches.
The platter is in great overall condition. There is some wear to the gilding of the rim, though nothing more than you'd expect for a piece of this age. There are no chips, no cracks, no breaks, and no repairs.
