Presented is a large, decorative sterling silver compote or raised serving dish made by Theodore B. Starr during the first quarter of the 1900s. This piece is of excellent size and weight. The shallow dish is raised on a pedestal base that is cut with openwork bands of leaf decoration. The dish itself has a nice openwork rim to match the base. There are separately cast and applied flourishes around the rim of the piece and there are beautiful, engraved wreaths of flowers as well. This is a wonderful looking piece in incredible condition.

The underside is marked sterling and Theodore B. Starr, who was in business from 1900-1924 before being bought out by Reed & Barton.

This piece is in fabulous condition. There are no dents, no breaks, no splits, no monograms, no monogram removals and no repairs.

The piece measures 13 1/2 inches in diameter, is 4 7/8 inches tall and weighs 989 grams or 34.9 ounces.
