Huge Impressive 1825 English Georgian Sterling Silver Kings Soup Punch Ladle
Regular price
$689.00
Presented is a wonderful antique English Georgian sterling silver large punch or soup serving ladle, dated 1825. This ladle is made in the classic King or Kings pattern, with crisp shell and scroll decoration to the handle and shoulders above the bowl. The terminal of the handle has a finely engraved crest on the front of a vambraced arm holding a dagger, point down. This is a very large size, heavy weight, impressive piece, and the popularity of the Kings pattern is such that it would be very easy to match to an existing flatware set.
This ladle is in excellent condition. There are no splits, no dents, no breaks, no monogram removals, and no repairs.
This piece is hallmarked with the lion passant for sterling silver, the leopard's head for the city of London, the duty stamp of King George IV's head, the date letter k for 1825, and the maker's mark for Charles Eley.
The ladle measures about 13 1/2 inches long.
The ladle weighs 333 grams or 11.7 regular ounces. -jm
