Huge c1820 American Coin Silver Kings Pattern Platter Serving Stuffing Spoon
Regular price
$792.00
Presented is a fantastic American coin silver platter or stuffing spoon. This piece dates to circa 1820. The spoon is done in the ever popular English King or Kings pattern. This simple and attractive pattern has been made by a wide variety of makers over time, with the details remaining fairly consistent. This is a huge, sturdy piece of silver, with a lot of weight to it. The terminal is engraved on the front with a crest of a leopard on a crown above a script 'E'.
The spoon's condition is excellent overall. There is some surface wear throughout, as the piece has not been buffed, but nothing excessive. The bowl of the spoon has slightly uneven sides, like it may have been bent a little in the past, but this is hard to notice. There are no splits, no dents, no monogram removals, and no solder repairs.
This piece is hallmarked on the stem very faintly for William Thomson of New York.
This piece is tested and guaranteed 900 purity/coin silver.
This piece is approximately 13 3/8 inches long.
This piece weighs 270 grams or 9.5 ounces.
