Huge Antique Dutch Silver Rotating Windmill Pelican Crest Serving Platter Spoon
Regular price
$360.00
Presented is an antique, Dutch silver serving spoon made during the 1880s or 1890s. This is a very big piece of good weight. The handle is done in an open, twist form and the top bears a large windmill with blades that freely rotate. The back of the bowl has a finely engraved crest with a pelican in the center.
The bowl bears the Dutch lion passant for 833 minimum purity silver, a maker's mark and possibly a date letter, but it is hard to read. The top of the handle bears the Dutch Minerva head mark and another worn hallmark.
This piece is in great condition for its age and the designs are crisp. There is an old, solder repair to the shaft, which is hardly noticeable.
Length: 12 3/4 inches.
Weight: 139 grams or 4.9 ounces.
