Presented is a superb quality antique French Limoges porcelain punchbowl, dating to 1904. The bowl itself is by Tressemanes & Vogt, renowned Limoges makers, while the decoration is likely done in the United States, though unfortunately we do not know the artist. The quality of the decoration is exceptional, featuring wonderfully hand painted grape clusters and leaves in a riot of colors, both inside and out, very skillfully and realistically rendered. The rim of the bowl and the three scroll form feet are gilded in a sumptuous gold. This is a very large and impressive punchbowl, with a generous capacity of 1.5 gallons, or 5.7 liters when filled to a reasonable amount.
This piece is in excellent condition. There are no chips, no cracks, no breaks, and no repairs.
This piece is signed for Tressemanes & Vogt, Limoges, France, in green, with a larger handwritten signature and date for the decorator, M.T. 1904.
This bowl measures about 14 1/2 inches in diameter and about 6 1/2 inches tall at the rim. -jm
