Presented is a handsome sterling silver small serving fork made by Frank Smith in the Newport Shell or Puritan pattern and retailed by Bigelow Kennard & Co. The pattern displays a beaded edge and shell decoration on the handle end. The fork is wide with 6 thick tines. The piece is monogrammed on the reverse with R.H. In a small flowing script.
The reverse is marked sterling along with the mark for Bigelow Kennard & Co and the patent. Although it is not marked for Frank Smith, it is definitely by them and in the Newport Shell pattern. This fork is in excellent overall condition. The pattern decorations are crisp. There are no breaks and no repairs.
