Presented is a fabulous quality old Sheffield fused silverplate tankard or stein type mug, dating to around the 1780s-1820s. The tankard is made in a classic form, with a decorative band around the midpoint as well as a particularly nice spade-tipped handle. The underside is set with wood in a rich dark brown. The interior is spotlessly clean.
The capacity is about 900ml-1000ml, but the full one liter capacity is only if it is filled to the very rim. So, fine for a table pour, but maybe not for walking around Oktoberfest.
This piece is in excellent condition, particularly for its age. The silver plating is in great shape. There are no splits, no dents, no breaks, no monograms, no monogram removals, and no repairs.
The tankard measures about 6 1/4 inches tall and about 5 inches in diameter at the base and at the mouth. -jm
