Presented is a lovely set of 4 antique Minton's china luncheon plates, dating to 1898. These plates were made for retail by R. Briggs & Co, a highly respected Boston retailer. These plates are made in a beautiful floral pattern, with colorful garlands of flowers around the edge and a vibrant spray of flowers in the center. The rims are done in a wonderful sky blue, very eye catching.
This set of plates is in excellent condition. No chips, no cracks, no breaks, and no repairs.
The plates are signed Minton's, Made in England, and the retail mark for R. Briggs & Co, Boston. There is also an impressed year mark of a swan with the number 4 under the glaze which is hard to photograph, for the year 1898.
Each plate measures about 8 7/8 inches in diameter. -jm
