Presented is a fantastic set of 12 English sterling silver dinner knives, dated 1952 and made by Herbert & Laurie Parsons, Tessiers Ltd. The handles are nicely carved from bovine cow bone and feature a finely engraved crest of an eagle. The blades are done in the Old Blunt form, and are solid sterling silver. The set was made in the year of the announcement of Queen Elizabeth II's coronation, and bear a commemorative hallmark. A very handsome and well made set.

This set is in great overall condition. Six of the knife handles have splits, but these are only noticeable with close, careful inspection, and the handles still feel very sound. The sterling silver blades are in great shape.

Each knife is hallmarked on the blade with the lion passant for sterling silver, the leopard's head for the city of London, the date letter R for 1952, the commemorative coronation stamp of Queen Elizabeth's profile, and the maker's mark HP LP for Herbert & Laurie Parsons, trading as Tessiers Ltd.

Each knife measures about 10 1/2 inches long.

The total weight for the set is 1294 grams, or 45.6 regular ounces. Due to the handles, not all of this weight is sterling silver. -jm
