Presented is a great set of 11 Wood & Hughes coin silver dessert or chocolate spoons. These spoons are made in the desirable Medallion pattern, and date to circa 1865-1880. The spoons have a design of a classical Greco-Roman style woman's head in profile, in a medallion on the handle. This design is very crisp and appealing, with a great deal of fine detail and texturing. The handles of the spoons are done in a twist form. The bowls have a gold wash.
This set is in great overall condition. The details of the design are nice and crisp. The gold wash to the bowls has some wear. There are no splits, no breaks, no dents, no monograms, no monogram removals, and no repairs.
Each spoon is stamped with the Wood & Hughes maker's mark. These pieces are at least coin (900) purity silver.
Each spoon is about 5 5/8 inches long.
The total weight for the set is 192 grams or 6.8 regular ounces. -jm
