Great Pair Gorham Sterling Silver Medallion Fluted Serving Scoops / Spoons
Regular price
$280.80
Presented is a lovely pair of Gorham sterling silver serving spoons or scoops. These servers are made in the Medallion pattern, which was patented in 1864. As the name suggests, this pattern features bold designs of classical Greco-Roman profiles in medallions on the handles. The larger spoon has the profile of a woman with her wavy her done up in a little tiara, while the smaller spoon has the profile of a helmeted warrior. Both spoons have fluted, scalloped bowls with a gold wash, suitable for a wide variety of serving purposes. The larger has a monogram of ER on the back of the handle, while the smaller has a monogram of LC.
These pieces are in great condition. The medallion designs are nice and crisp. There are no splits, no breaks, no dents, no monogram removals, and no repairs.
Each piece is stamped with the Gorham maker's mark as well as sterling and a patent date of 1864. The larger server has a retail mark for Crosby, Morse & Foss, while the smaller has a mark of Gorham & Co.
The larger spoon is about 6 7/8 inches long. The shorter spoon is about 5 7/8 inches long.
The total weight for the pair is 60 grams or 2.1 regular ounces.
