Presented is a wonderful pair of antique American coin silver sugar or ice tongs. These tongs date to circa 1820-1840 and were made by Pardon Miller, a Providence, RI silversmith. The tongs are made in a simple, classic form, with nicely detailed claw form ends. The back has a monogram of DMB in flowing script.
This piece is in excellent condition, particularly considering age. There are no splits, no dents, no monogram removals, and no repairs. The tongs are stamped with the maker's mark P. Miller for Pardon Miller (1797-1852, Providence, RI) on the interior of both arms.
These tongs measure about 6 1/4 inches long.
The tongs weigh 41.4 grams, or 1.5 regular ounces. -jm
