Gorgeous c1870s American Victorian 10k Gold Black Enamel Memorial Locket Pendant

Presented is a gorgeous American Victorian 10k yellow gold and black enamel locket pendant, dating to the 1860s-1880s. The locket is beautifully engraved with eye-catching decoration and adorned with black enamel scrollwork, so this may be a memorial/mourning type piece. The inside has its original bezels and glass on both sides, with what looks like blue/purple fabric beneath. Both sides of the exterior have a little cartouche in the center of the decoration, neither of which has ever been engraved.
This piece is not stamped or hallmarked, but we have tested all parts with nitric acid. The front and back panels are 10 karat gold, while the bail and the loop it attaches to, as well as the frame of the locket, are gold filled.
This locket is in great overall condition. The enamel is intact and in great shape. The locket snaps shut nicely. The corner of one of the glass bezels has a little chip, seemingly to the interior side, but this is not visible without opening the locket and is hard to notice even then. One side has a very shallow ding just underneath the top edge, and this looks to have caused a couple of tiny losses to the enamel fleur de lis shape on that side.
The locket measures about 1 1/2 inches long including the bail/loop at the top. Without the bail, the locket measures about 1 inch by about 3/4 of an inch.
