Fine Victorian Etruscan Revival 14k Gold Floral Bar Pin
Regular price
$288.00
Presented is an elegant American Victorian 14K gold bar pin done in the Etruscan Revival style. The pin is topped with an applied flower design accented with delicate bead and wire work. The front of the pin has been topped with a higher carat gold wash. This pin was made around the 1870s or 1880s.
The pin is not marked. We have tested it with nitric acid and guarantee it to be 14K gold.
The pin is in good condition overall. There are some light surface scratches to the front of the pin as you can see in the first photograph. This is not nearly as noticeable when you hold the piece in your hand as it is in our photographs, which magnify the pin to many times its original size. In addition, there has been some solder added to the back of the pin to reinforce the catch for the tip of the pin stem. This is visible in the third photograph. I believe the piece of gold that has been soldered was probably original and just being re-soldered to give it greater security, but it is difficult to say for certain. This solder repair is not very visible from the front and certainly will not be noticed during normal use. Otherwise the condition is excellent. There are no splits and no breaks.
The pin measures 5/8 inch wide and 1 1/2 inches long.
The weight is 4.4 grams.
