Fine Victorian Carved Roman Warrior Stone Cameo 10k Yellow Gold Bar Pin
Regular price $576.00
Presented is a very fine late Victorian carved stone cameo mounted on a 10K gold bar pin. This cameo has fabulous quality carving, great depth and detail and depicts a helmeted warrior with a full beard, in heavy armor. This cameo started out life as a ring, made between 1870-1890s. It was converted into a pin in a similar late Victorian style. The pin clasp is from the 1920s. The piece is marked on the clasp 14K. We have tested the piece with nitric acid, and we guarantee the clasp to be 14K and everything else to be 10K. The condition is excellent. The cameo is in great shape. I don't believe the cameo has any chips. In the second photo, there are slight indents to the back of the feathered portion of the helmet, and to the lower front edge of the helmet, but I do not believe these are chips. The carving has many facets to each surface, even when the whole surface appears flat, and the camera does not pick up even half of them. They are visible with a jeweler's 10x magnifying loupe. I believe that these indents are only caused by one of the facets, caught by the angle and are not flaws. The gold setting is in great shape, and the clasp works well. There are no breaks, no cracks, no splits, no dents, no chips and no repairs. The cameo pin measures 2 1/8 inches long and 7/8 inches tall.
The weight is 9.0 grams.
